I don’t feel that May was my most productive month – reading wise – due to being busy in my personal life, including a trip away for a wedding which seemed to take a lot of my time prepping for, as I was flying with a baby, so you don’t want to leave anything to chance!

Anyway, back to the books… in May I did manage to read:

For the first time this year, I managed to read everything on my previous month’s TBR list, mainly due to the fact I only had 3 books on it! They were the first 3 on the above list. All three are nominated for this year’s Bailey’s Prize, which is what initially drew my attention to them. My order of preference for them would be The Power, The Lonely Hearts Hotel, then The Dark Circle, although I would say I enjoyed all 3, The Dark Circle was a little slow moving for me.

The Cows was my audiobook for the month and although pleasant enough while I walked to and from the station, it didn’t blow me away and won’t be one I read again.

I was very excited to read How to Stop Time, as it is the first advanced review copy I’ve gotten my hands on. I also loved the plot line, following a man that is 439 years old, but looks like he is in his ’40s. A really intriguing book and well worth a read when it’s released in July.

So learning the lesson of only setting myself a few books to read and seeing what I feel like reading for the rest of the month, in June I’d like to attempt:

  • The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
  • Lyrebird by Cecelia Ahern
  • Everyone Brave is Forgotten by Chris Cleave

Anyone read these? I’d love to know your thoughts! Happy reading, all!
